Cycling & Messenger Bags
What is a cycling or messenger bag?
Photos & demonstrations coming soon
Cycling bags are designed to stay put and stay comfortable while you're moving on a bike. The key engineering challenges are weight distribution (so the bag doesn't unbalance you), retention (so it doesn't shift when you lean into a turn), and access (so you can reach things without stopping). Messenger bags originated with urban couriers who needed to carry documents across cities quickly — the single-strap crossbody design lets you swing the bag to your front while still on the bike.
Signs of a quality cycling & messenger bags
- Single wide shoulder strap with a stabilising chest clip
- Roll-top or quick-access main closure
- Reflective detailing for low-light visibility
- Waterproof or highly water-resistant construction
- Low-profile design that sits flat and tight to the back
Not the right type if…
You carry heavy loads or need a laptop well-protected from impact. Single-strap designs put all weight on one shoulder — not suitable beyond 2–3 hours of continuous wear.
