The latest upgrade of our iconic Commander Backpack is delivered through Wotancraft's "Vintage Tech" design language, a hybrid of vintage nostalgia with modern functionality. The original Commander was the proud winner of "Best Backpack 2018" by Carryology for its tough WWII military style.

Equipped with YKK watertight zippers to keep your precious gear and belongings dry throughout unpredictable weather situations during your journey.

Enhancing the user's experience, larger side doors allow easier, smoother access to your camera/gear. Located on the side doors are waterproof zipper pockets for storing keys, coins, cards, lens caps, filters, batteries… etc.

Paired with Wotancraft's Interior Pocket Modules to organize your accessories, along with a new ergonomic shoulder strap system, a stress alleviating waist strap, and a tripod sleeve, the New Commander is your New-Old favorite!

Inspired by the WWII Swiss Army "Salt ＆ Pepper" Rucksack, designer Albert Y. continues to perfect the style and functionalities of our classic Commander backpack. Behold, as Wotancraft proudly presents: the New 2022 Commander!

Built with vintage metal hardware, distressed rivets, and sturdy cowhide, the New Commander not only substituted traditional heavy waxed canvas for lightweight water-repellent Dualcoat fabric but also added YKK Watertight Zippers on each of its pockets making the backpack weatherproof and more!

Larger Quick-Access Side Doors + Side Pockets

Easy access even without putting the backpack down. The larger side doors also have zipper pockets for you to store your small accessories such as coins, cards, lens caps, filters, batteries… etc.

A Dedicated Laptop Compartment

Accessible from the top is a laptop compartment (25 x 43 cm / 9.8 x 16.9 inch ) that can fit up to a 15" laptop / 2021 16” MBP

An Upper / Lower Deck Design for Better Organization

Split by a removable deck divider, the lower compartment can store 1 DSLR body + 3 lenses; clothing, shoes, toiletry, etc. personal items can be stored in the upper compartment. OR, you could use the optional portable camera insert to store another set of lenses and camera.

A: Yes.

Q: Where can I fit the velcro pocket modules?

A: In the entire main compartment including the top zipper lid and on both side doors (Click here for modules).

Q: How many cameras and lenses can the Commander fit.

A: The lower compartment can store 1 DSLR body + 3 lenses; an optional Portable Insert can be added to the upper compartment to carry an extra 1 DSLR body + 2 lenses.

Q: What is the maximum sized lens that I can fit into this bag?

A: The bag’s main compartment is 27 x 45 x 15 cm (W x H x D). After removing the upper / lower deck divider, it can fit lenses such as the Sony 600mm f4 lens (28 x 17 x 44.5cm).

Q: Is this bag water resistant?

A: The bag has been tested out in the rain for over an hour and the interior still remains dry.

Q: Is the leather waterproof?

A: No, but it is water repellent for a short while. When water is collected on the leather surface, the water will eventually seep through. Just in case the bag gets wet, please take reference from the next Q & A question “Leather Maintenance”.
